Not Just a Number: Cultivating Awareness of Sexual Assault in Our Community

The Junior League of Schenectady and Saratoga Counties (JLSS), in partnership with Planned Parenthood Mohawk Hudson, is working to bring awareness of sexual assault in our communities and the many services provided to individuals in crisis following a sexual assault.  The 2015-2016 Provisional Class of JLSS started an important conversation and effort.  Please check this page out for the latest information!

Check out the article from Times Union on the efforts of the Provisional Class for this project.  If you do not have a Times Union Subscriber Log-In, please check out our Facebook page for a link to the article on our wall.

Please visit their GoFundMe page and support the project. Thank you for your generosity!

Dining to Donate

This year’s Junior League of Schenectady and Saratoga Counties’ Provisional Class extends a heartfelt “thank you” to all JLSS members, sustainers, and our families and friends who showed their support and encouragement at our “Dining to Donate” night on April 13 at the Recovery Sports Grill! It sure looked like everyone was enjoying good times!

Stayed tuned for information about our final event being planned at Union College on May 5! At that time, we will present all goods collected to the sexual assault/crime victims support volunteers at Planned Parenthood Mohawk Hudson! We’re very excited about the success of “Not Just a Number”!

Their project started with a kick-off event on February 10th, 2016.

Thank you to all who supported our event at Union College on February 20th, 2016.

Part of our project goals is to collect various items that would be helpful to people who have been sexually assaulted while they are in the hospital receiving the care that they need.   We are collecting only NEW items, so please nothing even gently used.  We are in need of items for both men and women!  We will also accept monetary donations to be used for the purchase of these items.

Items needed include:  Chapstick, Large or Extra Large sweatpants and sweatshirts, T-shirts, Underwear (men and women's), Socks, Magazines, Puzzle Books, Writing Utensils, Combs, Hand Sanitizer, Shampoo, Conditioner, Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Deodorant, Lotion, Journals...
